On Thursday, Oct. 26th, Dr. Thomas Insel, a renowned psychiatrist and neuroscientist who was appointed as California’s Mental Health Czar in 2019-2021, will speak at Dominican University of California’s Angelico Hall on a variety of subjects, including his latest book, Healing: Our Path from Mental Illness to Mental Health.
The event is free, open to the public in person and live-streamed. With Health, Insel seeks to highlight a bold, expert, and actionable map for the re-invention of America’s broken mental health care system.
Insel has dedicated his career to advancing mental health research, policy, and technology. From serving as the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health for over a decade to co-founding several mental health startups, Dr. Insel has been at the forefront of groundbreaking initiatives in the field of mental health. He has also been recognized with numerous national and international awards, including honorary degrees in the US and Europe.
His commitment to the field continues with his work at Vanna Health, a startup focused on supporting individuals with serious mental illness. In his book, Insel shares insights and perspectives on the journey from mental illness to mental health, drawing on his wealth of experience and expertise. Insel has dedicated his career to advancing mental health research, policy, and technology.
