Mill Valley Mourns the Loss of an Icon With the Passing of Maria Aversa, the Longtime Force of Nature Behind the Legendary La Ginestra Restaurant

When the City of Mill Valley celebrated La Ginestra’s 50th Anniversary in 2014, Fabio Aversa recounted to the Council a story about the family closing the restaurant briefly in 1965 so they could return to Italy for one month. At the end of the trip, Salvatore Aversa told his wife that he’d go back to Mill Valley to re-open the restaurant, and ā€œthat if nobody shows up, I’ll pack everything back up and come back to Italy.ā€ Instead, he found flowers and welcome back signs and notes outside the restaurant.

On Sunday, Dec. 17th from 12-4pm at the Community Center, we’ll have another lineup of great performances – including the one and only Millbillies, Sweaty Baby,Ā Marin Conservatory of Dance, Rock the Ages, Ellie McKee and Roco Dance & Fitness, as well as a bunch of great children’s games and activities like the huge slide, a jumpy house, cornhole and an array of additional activities, both inside and outside at the Community Center. We’ll have Cousin’s Maine Lobster and Hopmonk food trucks, a beverage program for adults and kiddos alike, and much more and live music throughout the day.

Mill Valley City Council Unanimously Rejects Former Councilman’s Appeal to Reverse Planning Commission’s Approval of the Treehouse Project at Former BofA Building

Among the testimonials for and against was Andrew Reeder, a representative of the building’s owner, Spruce CRE, who said the company did not receive any other application to rent the building in the past two years. He said they will take on a ā€œsignificant capital improvementā€ to the property. In the interests of spreading more joy than ever – and with the grateful support of our partners at Mill Valley Recreations’ Mill Valley Community Center, we’re expanding Winterfest across two dates. On the Downtown Plaza on Sunday, Dec. 3, we’ll have yet another fantastic lineup of singers, dancers and musicians to perform from approximately 5-6pm. Two weeks later at the Community Center, we’ll have another lineup of great performances, great activities, food trucks, a beverage program for adults and kiddos alike, and much more.
