Moulton-Peters, the county’s representative on BCDC, acknowledged the results of the UC Berkeley study, but added, “The lived experience of people that we have heard from in this county and elsewhere is very different. We need to make a more reliable commute for the people coming from the East Bay to work in Marin.” Additional changes are planned for the bridge, including removing the toll booths at east end and reinstating a previous high occupancy vehicle lane on the westbound upper deck. Planners are also studying the possibility of using the multiuse lane as an additional lane for carpools and buses.

The first 100 Dogs to register will be eligible to enter. Entries accepted on the day of the event will be limited to the spots left. The top 10 best dressed dogs will be selected to participate in the final voting selection and will receive awards, including a grand prize winner. Eligible award categories include: Best DIY Costume, Best Owner + Pup Combo Costume, Funniest Costume, Most Clever Costume… and more.

“We find that happiness is aligned with specific quality of life ratings. In particular, jobs, leisure, and housing,” Baldassare said, according to the report. “In our polling, we also looked at personal finance. But the biggest change we’ve seen over time has been satisfaction with jobs, which went from 52% saying they were very satisfied in our first polling to 31% today.” Other polling, by Gallup, asked Californians to rate their satisfaction of life from 1 to 10. A research team from the University of Oxford then compiled all 215,801 responses into a map of the state, broken down by county.
