Roger Carlon, the āGodfatherā of Martial Arts in Marin, dies at 76
West America Tae Kwon Do founder Roger Carlon, oft-referred to as the āGodfather of Martial Arts in Marin,” passed away on September 25th while vacationing in Mexico. Born in Nice, France, Carlon was a gifted athlete his Gazelle-like speed and grace eventually became his trademark on the World Tae Kwon Do circuit.

For the 2022 edition of the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival, the towering redwoods stood tall for the art lovers attending on Sept. 18, when heavy rain at times and gusty winds made for less than optimal art loving. But because MVFAF is one of Mill Valley’s most deeply treasured events, a packed Saturday and a less-so Sunday balanced out ā and the result was another beautiful event.

Earlier this year, we created ā with generous design assistance from Poet and/the Bench and the support of the City of Mill Valley ā an array of banners, both on Miller Ave. and on the Depot Plaza, to urge residents and guests to support the people that serve as backbone of our community. Now we’re deploying some signs around town to do the same.
