Clove and Jenny are pillars of their community who now face the challenge of rebuilding their lives after experiencing unprecedented losses. “The marsh itself is currently drowning through this muted tidal effect,” said Rob LaPorte, a project manager at the conservancy. “It takes longer for the tides to drain from the marsh than a normal functioning marsh.” “So we’re losing vegetation and we’re losing whole sections of the marsh to wave erosion,” he said. “We’re making sure we get a project implemented as fast as possible in order to restore the marsh and all of the rare wildlife and plants it supports.”

With the presidential transition moving quickly, a very different set of questions and possible solutions are presenting themselves: Gov. Gavin Newsom said this week that California will step in and provide rebates to eligible residents who buy electric vehicles if President-elect Donald J. Trump ends the $7,500 federal E.V. tax credit. “We will intervene if the Trump administration eliminates the federal tax credit, doubling down on our commitment to clean air and green jobs in California,” Mr. Newsom, a Democrat, said in a statement. “We’re not turning back on a clean transportation future — we’re going to make it more affordable for people to drive vehicles that don’t pollute.”

Ultimately, PG&E presented us with two options: maintain 24/7 generator power during the 11-day upgrade or face major power outages for Mill Valley, the Tamalpais Community Services District, Tiburon, Belvedere, and Sausalito. The City prioritized the needs of its residents by opting to maintain power, recognizing that a prolonged outage would cause significant disruption to daily life. In making this decision, the City strongly advocated for PG&E to conduct extensive community outreach and implement measures to mitigate the project’s impacts.

The City, through a state grant, is funding $175K. Mill Valley Friends of Parks & Recreation will contribute $25K. Organizers seek to get $50k from the volleyball community and plan to raise about $100,000 from a dozen community minded Mill Valley families,” organizers say. “We appreciate you being one of the community minded individuals that make Mill Valley such a wonderful place to live in!” The fencing to support the creation for this new exciting addition to the town will require significant funding.

“We find that happiness is aligned with specific quality of life ratings. In particular, jobs, leisure, and housing,” Baldassare said, according to the report. “In our polling, we also looked at personal finance. But the biggest change we’ve seen over time has been satisfaction with jobs, which went from 52% saying they were very satisfied in our first polling to 31% today.” Other polling, by Gallup, asked Californians to rate their satisfaction of life from 1 to 10. A research team from the University of Oxford then compiled all 215,801 responses into a map of the state, broken down by county.
