The COVID-19 crisis has put the kibosh on so many of our favorite events and creative pursuits in 2020, but the Mill Valley Arts Commission‘s annual Click Off Photography Competition, which sends photographers of all ages and ability throughout Marin County to capture images in one of four categories, will not be one of them.

Organizers are readying the Click Off Kick-Off event at the Mill Valley Community Center for Tuesday, October 20 via Zoom  at 6:15pm. At the Click Off-Kick Off,” the competition’s four photo subject categories will be randomly chosen by Mill Valley Recreation staff. The online competition application deadline is Monday, October 19 by 5pm.

Participants will be informed of their randomly selected category and image upload instructions via email on Thursday, October 22 by 3pm, and can take their photos anytime from October 22 through November 5.

The kick-off event provides Mill Valley shutterbugs of all ages and ability levels with everything they’ll need to participate in the competition and submit their best photos in subject categories that highlight Marin’s unique characteristics and subsequently reveal each photographer’s perspective through the camera lens – and cell phone photos are encouraged.

Applicants will be divided into 3 different age ranges:
Youth (10yrs & under)
Young Adult (11yrs-17yrs)
Adult (18yrs & over)

The fee to participate is $15 for those 15 years old and younger and those 62 years and older, and $25 for adults.

The Best in Show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age range will have their winning image displayed on a lamp post banner along Miller Ave. for the month of January 2021. Once the lamp post banners have been taken down, they will be given to the winning photographers as a memento of their competition win.
