On the heels of the Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well shows this summer and in advance of their upcoming tour that includes stops in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles, Mill Valley resident Bob Weir is staying quite busy.
The guitarist led his bandmates from longtime side project RatDog through a performance Saturday night at the Sweetwater Music Hall, the downtown music venue he co-owns, to benefit the Seva Foundaiton as part of the 38th Mill Valley Film Festival.
According to JamBase, Weir was joined onstage by fellow RatDog members guitarist Steve Kimock, drummer Jay Lane and bassist Robin Sylvester for a set that included such Dead classics as “Birdsong” and “The Other One.”
The show celebrated World Sight Day, the premiere of the documentary Open Your Eyes and Seva Foundation’s four-millionth sight-saving surgery. It was part of MVFF Music, a series of nine nights of live music featuring an eclectic lineup of bands at the Sweetwater as part of MVFF38.
