Historical Society’s Annual ‘Walk Into History’ Returns With a Guided Tour Focus on ‘From Ranch to Town – May 25, 2025
The theme of this year’s walk is the story of Mill Valley’s beginnings, From Ranch to Town, which we’re celebrating as a part of the Mill Valley is 125! anniversary this year. Our guided tour of the story of Mill Valley’s Incorporation begins at the downtown Plaza and visits sites along the route to hear about the people involved in the creation of Mill Valley and its railroad, roads, and water supply. Learn about the influence of saloons and the newspaper wars on the 1900 election, and the impact of San Francisco’s great earthquake and fire of 1906.

“MCOE is actively working to seek clarification on what that means and how the grants might be reinstituted,” he said. “The office will appeal this decision and will pursue legal action as necessary.” Lisa Miller, an assistant superintendent at the county office, said staffing and students at five Marin school districts — Miller Creek, Sausalito Marin City, Shoreline Unified, San Rafael and Novato — will be directly affected. “Hundreds of kids in Marin County are going to miss receiving really important services if this funding stream ends,” Carroll said. “There should be plenty of public outrage about this.”

Next up is a spotlight on the MMC 2025 Young Artists – its annual “Young Artists Concert” on May 18. The concert, co-sponsored by Chamber Music Marin, will showcase solo performances by (LtoR back): Dheyan Lim (violin) of Mill Valley, Sydney Li-Jenkins (violin) of Sausalito, and Arya Dev (violin) of San Rafael. (LtoR front): Isabella Lo (piano) of Kentfield, and Owen Xu (piano) of San Rafael.

Club Evexia offers a range of services, including TRX (Total Resistance Exercise), yoga, Pilates, cycling, personal training and group fitness classes. The expansion allows the club to relocate its coworking lounge to the adjacent building, where it now offers additional workspace, more conference rooms, a coffee bar and a dedicated meditation room. The original coworking area will be converted into a Pilates reformer studio for both group classes and one-on-one sessions.

Marin IJ: Trump Administration Warns Marin Schools About DEI Programs
Carroll said that federal money, which accounts for approximately 10% of local schools’ total funding, is not used for DEI efforts. Carroll said the California Department of Education has not heard back from the federal government since issuing its responses. News of the ultimatum to Marin schools surfaced during the April 15 meeting of the Marin County Board of Education. Carroll provided members of the board with a brief summary of the DEI issue as part of the report that he provides at every meeting. The matter wasn’t agendized for discussion.
