The Mill Valley Chamber announced this week the full music lineup for its annual springtime Mill Valley Music Festival, which expands to two days this year on May 13-14.
2-Day GA (starting at $219+) a 2-Day GA PLUS ticket (starting at $339+) and 2-Day VIP tickets (starting at $449) are on sale now to the general public via MillValleyMusicFest.com. Fans are encouraged to act fast as the initial batch of blind presale tickets sold out in advance similar to last year’s inaugural festival.
Attendees of all ages at this year’s two-day weekend celebration that remains chock full of music, art, and local culture will be treated to headlining performances from a pair of NorCal rock legends – Oakland-born singer/songwriter Michael Franti will be joined by his long-standing band Spearhead, while alt-rock pioneers Cake formed in nearby Sacramento.
New Orleans’ very own Grammy Award-nominated and former NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Tank and the Bangas will also grace the Mill Valley main stage, as will Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew’s REMAIN IN LIGHT, a special concert series featuring former members of Talking Heads; Seattle seven-piece The Dip; retro-soul revivalist Durand Jones; southern soul singer Black Joe Lewis and his multi-talented backing band The Honeybears; and Grammy-nominated Valerie June, a folk-soul singer known for her unique blend of Appalachian music.
Rounding out the 2023 lineup includes Oakland’s own African psych-rock band Orchestra Gold and multi-piece Mill Valley student residents The Alive – both of whom further the festival’s commitment to supporting local arts and culture. The full music lineup is listed below and available online at MillValleyMusicFest.com:
“With a commitment to creativity, our team worked its tail off to create something new and exciting in this town we love. Overwhelmed by the massive response from our neighbors and Bay Area friends, I knew our team had to really raise the bar for 2023 and we couldn’t be more proud of how this year’s lineup came together,” said Jim Welte, director of the Mill Valley Chamber. “This new group of performers is sure to not only leave a longstanding impression on festival attendees but will also entice new travelers to visit our incredible community. Come springtime, we hope the whole Bay Area will make a weekend trip to explore and see for themselves what makes Mill Valley such a special and unique place. As an organization, we continue to champion our community’s multi-faceted arts & culture, while creating innovative opportunities to connect people.”
Expect a ton of gorgeous visual art at MVMF, along with an array of kid-centric activities. There also will be an extensive retail market from several creative shops in Mill Valley and Marin.
And in a nod to the ever-growing sense of community support, the Chamber is donating a portion of proceeds to a pair of local institutions including Kiddo!, which raises funds for arts education and more within the Mill Valley School District, as well as the Tam High Foundation, which has served as a inimitable backbone for high school programs across the board.
We’re also leveraging the incredibly generous support from our sponsors by turning each Community Sponsorship into scholarship tickets for students and artists, a program that generated more than 300 free tickets in 2022 to people who might not otherwise be able to attend MVMF.
Check this space in the coming days and weeks for a full lineup of food vendors, kids’ activities, craft vendors and much, much more!!
Too bad this local event is so incredibly expensive – $600 for 2 people to attend both days, not including kids or parking!! Ticket “fees” alone are $50+ per ticket!! It would be nice to give Mill Valley residents a preferential rate. I’ll take a pass as is.
Agree: discount for residents please!
