Looking to watch dozens of pets and their human accessories strut their stuff onstage in their Halloween costumes – or even better, be one of them?
Strawberry Village shopping center hosts its annual DOGtoberfest on Saturday, October 29 from 12-3pm — featuring interactive, pet-related activities and resources for pet lovers and their four-legged friends. Festivities will include free pet photos, pet sketch artist, pet psychic, animal rescue organizations and adoptions, and more. The event benefits Marin Humane and Hopalong.
There will also be a Howl’oween Pet Costume Contest and a free, center-wide trick or treating for kids and their families.
The main event is the Howl’oween Pet Costume Contest, which starts at 2pm. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Every pet will receive a doggy swag bag for participating. Registration is at Woodlands Pet Food & Treats (Mill Valley location) anytime during business hours until October 29. The donation suggestions for registration are Pug Level: $10 (before event day), Standard Poodle Level: $15 and Great Dane Level: $20+ and includes goodies for owners and their pets. One hundred percent of the registration fee will be donated to Hopalong and Marin Humane. Hopalong, now a division of Marin Humane, has a mission their mission to “transform lives through exceptional animal care, humane education, and advocacy. Every day, we inspire compassion and positive relationships between people and animals.” This union now means that even more “lives are made happy!”
Children accompanied by parents are invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat at participating merchants between 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. They can pick up a trick-or-treat bag in the Piazza, located near Woodlands Pet Food & Treats (while supplies last) and go on a hunt for goodies provided by participating Strawberry Village stores.
