Deport Plaza activity
The Depot Plaza has long been a gathering space for the community, and that vitality has grown immensely during the pandemic.

Don’t get us started on the wonders of the Mill Valley Public Library.

From its efforts toward social equity by eliminating fines and its unceasingly diverse programming to its brilliant literary events and renowned Mapping Mill Valley History project from the Lucretia Little History Room, there’s just so much to love about our relentlessly creative library.

Now they’re back it, launching free Wi-Fi service on the Depot Plaza. From the Gravity Car to the Lytton Square median, enjoy free access to the internet. Apply for jobs, access health information and government services, do school work, read email, or just surf the web with a speedy and reliable connection.

The advance of technology is rapid in our connected world, but an emerging digital divide and lack of steady internet access makes full participation in society increasingly difficult for many people. Beyond being convenient for downtown visitors, the Wi-Fi on the Plaza project intends to help bridge this gap and increase opportunity and equity.

Join the network “Wifi on the Plaza” next time you’re downtown – the world will be at your fingertips!

The library team says that a big thanks goes to its pair of support organizations, the Friends of the Library and the Mill Valley Library Foundation, for funding this important project, and for partnering with the library to prioritize equity initiatives. “Thanks also to Depot Bookstore & Cafe partners Paul Lazzareschi and Mark Martini for providing space to install the necessary equipment in the space,” says Mill Valley City Librarian Anji Brenner.
