Equator Coffees has gone Hollywood.
Just a few months on the heels of taking over the historic, circular art deco Round House Cafe at the southern end of the Golden Gate Bridge, Equator opened a new location this week at the Ivy Station development in Culver City. Wedged between Santa Monica and Hollywood, the new location at 8900 Venice Boulevard in Culver City is ripe for introducing transit riders, tech workers and locals to Equator’s famed coffees.
This 1,400-square-foot, 50+ seat indoor-outdoor cafe is Equator’s 11th location. The new space is inspired by the Southern California topography and the metro line which runs parallel to the Ivy Station location and seamlessly flows into the building’s adjacent public outdoor green space.
In conjunction with the opening, and in line with its consistent values as a 2016 Small Business Person of the Year for California, the first time in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s history that it selected LGBT business owners, Equator is donating 10% of its sales in the first week to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
According to Eater, the “glassy, Kellie Patry Designed Ivy Station cafe offers drip and espresso drinks (including a collaboration spiced latte with Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger of Socalo) in addition to teas, pastries from Farmshop, and toasts and breads backboned by LA favorite Bub & Grandmas.” Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
