The Mountain Play, the San Francisco Bay Area’s most magical outdoor theater experience, has announced a $100,000 Match Challenge Campaign to help raise funds for the future of the organization. www.MountainPlay.org

After six financially challenging seasons, the Mountain Play Board of Directors made the strategic decision to take a one-year hiatus from the signature production on Mount Tamalpais, allowing the organization to focus on re-envisioning a sustainable Mountain Play for the future.

The Mountain Play is currently holding listening sessions and conducting a survey to collect valuable insights from the community to help build a new and stronger business model. However, it is crucial that the nonprofit have the financial wherewithal to embark on their work, despite having no full-sized spring production to generate earned revenue.

This campaign is being matched by a group of Mountain Play supporters who will match 100% of donations up to $100,000.

“The Mountain Play has been a Bay Area theatre tradition for over 100 years, and we are asking our patrons and community to be a part of its revival and help build the foundation for the next 100 years,” said Eileen Grady, Executive Director and Artistic Producer. “Theaters across the country are still struggling to recover from the pandemic, and the Bay Area has lost many respected companies and even more are now on the brink. We are thankful for our supporters and to everyone who believes in our mission. We could not have made it this far without them.”
