The Mountain Play, the San Francisco Bay Area’s most magical outdoor theater experience, After a one-year hiatus from their signature production on Mount Tamalpais, the Mountain Play, the San Francisco Bay Area’s most magical outdoor theater experience, is thrilled to announce a return to their much beloved home at the Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre in 2026 for a production of the family-favorite musical, The Wizard of Oz, June 7, 13, 14, and 21. T

The Mountain Play is currently holding listening sessions and conducting a survey to collect valuable insights from the community to help build a new and stronger business model. However, it is crucial that the nonprofit have the financial wherewithal to embark on their work, despite having no full-sized spring production to generate earned revenue. This campaign is being matched by a group of Mountain Play supporters who will match 100% of donations up to $100,000.  

Directed and Choreographed by Nicole Helfer, and Music Direction by Daniel Alley, Into the Woods takes you on a journey with everyone’s favorite characters from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, as they navigate the woods in search of wishes fulfilled.

Organizers are taking up the production of Hello, Dolly, the 1964 musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman based on Thornton Wilder’s 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1955.
