“The work that we do is absolutely amazing, but the extensiveness of the work and the pressure of the work, it never goes away,” Elton said. “I can’t remember the last time I had an actual vacation. We’re always working. So, as rewarding as it can be, I’d like to relieve the pressure a little bit.” Elton’s said her new role will be “curatorial.”

On the heels of the exhilarating return of the Sequoia Cinema earlier this year, along with the unveiling of the ever-creative new Visual Design for the 2024 Mill Valley Film Festival, and the amazing news that BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Jude Law will appear at the 47th Mill Valley Film Festival (October 3–13), there’s even more exciting MVFF coming our way. “Conclave,” a Vatican-set drama that takes us inside one of the world’s most secretive events, will make its West Coast premiere as the opening night film of the 47th Mill Valley Film Festival, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, with its star Ralph Fiennes set to appear in person.

“Malcolm Washington’s confident directorial debut both honors the soul of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize winning play and infuses it with a vibrant cinematic sensibility. He’s assembled a great cast, actors who have an incredible sense of the language and spirit that made Wilson one of America’s greatest playwrights,” said Zoë Elton, MVFF Director of Programming. “And Danielle Deadwyler’s work in this film is exquisite. As she did in Till, she again proves herself to be one of the most outstanding actors of her generation.”

On the heels of the exhilarating return of the Sequoia Cinema last month, as well as the exciting announcement last week that the 2024 Mill Valley Film Festival will feature a Tribute to the remarkable contributions of esteemed BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Jude Law at the 47th Mill Valley Film Festival, the California Film Institute has unveiled the official visual design for the 2024 MVFF, created once again by the talented team at Marin County-based Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners In Sausalito.

On the heels of the exhilarating return of the Sequoia Cinema last month, a cornerstone of entertainment for residents and visitors alike, this week unveiled an exciting teaser that the 2024 Mill Valley Film Festival will feature a Tribute to the remarkable contributions of esteemed BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Jude Law at the 47th Mill Valley Film Festival. Law will be on hand for this special onstage conversation and presentation of the MVFF Award.
