Facing Cost Headwinds, Marine Layer Group Pivots to an Alternative Model for Massive Unoccupied BofA Building in the Heart of Town, Eyes Turning It Into Retail Use Along With Flexible Work and Event Space
Aimlessly drifting tumbleweeds don’t spend much time in the 94941. When an intensely-felt Mill Valley controversy arises, our community engages, often deeply so, to say the least. Few subjects have stirred the proverbial pot in town more than the June 2023 proposal for the membership-based Treehouse from Marine Layer founders Adam Lynch and Mike Natenshon, part of the team leasing and developing the former bank building at 60 Throckmorton Ave., all of whom live in Mill Valley.

Marin IJ: San Rafael Planners Release Final Mall Redevelopment EIR
Like the draft report, the final EIR, or FEIR, examines three other project alternatives, including a “no-project” option. In conclusion, the report says the “reduced residential alternative” — which proposes 63 fewer homes than what developers are seeking — would be the “environmentally superior alternative.” The option would “slightly reduce” the effects on air quality, emissions, energy, noise and vehicle trip generation, the report says. However, the report maintains that a list of required construction and mitigation measures would need to be followed to minimize disruptions. The report says the reduced residential alternative would meet the stated project objectives just with 63 fewer homes.

Open Kimono: As the Mill Valley Music Fest Heads Toward the Four-Year Mark, It’s a Great Reminder of Why We Created It – It’s Not Just a Big Party, It Matters to Us Deeply, and It Supports ALL of Our Amazing Community, and Beyond!
More than anything, The Mill Valley Music Festival is about continuing to be better neighbors to those within and around our community. Whether it’s our years-long support for the We Are One Marin Campaign highlighting BIPOC-owned businesses or our longstanding coverage of inequity in our town, from historic to much more recent and shining a light on discrimination among us, we’re committed to making our town more equitable. That’s not a heavy ask – it’s just connecting the dots toward opportunity.
We’ll continue to strive for ways to use the power of this lil’ music festival to bring both sonic joy and more opportunity to our friends and neighbors
