Our Chamber members, primarily businesses, nonprofits and individuals, know who we are and what we stand for. But we haven’t always articulated that as well as we could to the broader community that doesn’t engage with our newsletters, blogs and social channels. MVMF is about continuing to be better neighbors to those within and around our community.

The Mill Valley Music Fest Has Benefited Greatly From Erickson Sound Production – a New D&B Audiotechnik XSL8 Creates a Pocket of Quiet Where the Monitor Engineer & the Band Have More Control of the Stage Sound Levels to Hone Their Craft

The big update for MVMF audiophiles is that local sound company ESP Audio brings custom d&b D&B Audiotechnik’s rig each year, and captains the helm. D&B just released a cutting edge new concert rig, and Nils Erickson, the owner of ESP, is debuting it at the MVMF this year. In addition to updated drivers and components, the new D&B Model creates a pocket of quiet on the stage where the monitor engineer and the band have more control of the stage sound levels to hone their craft. “Our artists are in for an unparalleled stage experience this year!” Erickson says. All of this amounts to improved sound quality, less power consumption, and new sound field technology to bleed less off the main PA onto the stage, giving the band a better experience on the stage to hone their craft.

Dick Spotswood: Mill Valley Evacuation Drills Crucial for Emergency Prep

Rule one is to leave for a safe location immediately after the first alarm sounds. There’s no dawdling if you, your family and pets are to survive. As soon as evacuation orders are given, leave for a safe location. Your destination can be a sports field, school yard, the beach or anywhere far from flammable foliage. Never forget that a major earthquake can spawn an out-of-control urban or wildland fire. Think of San Francisco at 5:06 a.m. on April 18, 1906. Keep in mind the old saying, “those who hesitate are lost.”

Marin Serves as State Model for Fire Prevention

“One of the reasons why we wanted to locate our task force meeting in Marin is the remarkable work that’s actually happening on a community scale,” said state Natural Resources Secretary Wade Crowfoot, co-chair of the task force. The task force held a series of panel discussions at the Embassy Suites in San Rafael on March 29. More than 400 attended in person and more than 300 tuned in online.

Dick Spotswood Via Marin IJ: Marin Voters Would Make Great Protesters Against Trump

It’s time for regular Marin residents who consider themselves patriots to stand up and determine their own destiny. In much of politically “blue” America, protests have spontaneously erupted. No, they aren’t due to paid organizers. They’re just angry Americans. Other than at Corte Madera’s Tesla showroom, it appears to me that local protests have been scarce. Marin should be a shining example to fellow California patriots on how to address their pent-up emotions and exercise their First Amendment rights.

Open Kimono: As the Mill Valley Music Fest Heads Toward the Four-Year Mark, It’s a Great Reminder of Why We Created It – It’s Not Just a Big Party, It Matters to Us Deeply, and It Supports ALL of Our Amazing Community, and Beyond!

More than anything, The Mill Valley Music Festival is about continuing to be better neighbors to those within and around our community. Whether it’s our years-long support for the We Are One Marin Campaign highlighting BIPOC-owned businesses or our longstanding coverage of inequity in our town, from historic to much more recent and shining a light on discrimination among us, we’re committed to making our town more equitable. That’s not a heavy ask – it’s just connecting the dots toward opportunity.

We’ll continue to strive for ways to use the power of this lil’ music festival to bring both sonic joy and more opportunity to our friends and neighbors
