Mill Valley Community Block Party

Larry the Hat’s “Mill Valley Community Block Party” is back. After having to cancel last year’s show that ran for 22 consecutive years, it’s happening on Sunday October 3 (1pm-5:30pm). “This wonderful celebration of life in our magical town is back!” Larry says. “Bigger, better and hopefully safer than ever.”

With an eye on safety and social distancing, the party is happening on Miller Avenue Ave. between Throckmorton and Sunnyside avenues, with the Depot Plaza open and dedicated to kids’ activities, including art projects from O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, Camp Funderblast’s games, Lego and model building, soccer games from Dave Fromer Soccer and Mojo Dojo Karate led by Shihan James Henry.

Speaking of which, as always, the Beer Garden will benefit Kiddo!, the organization largely responsible for funding arts education teachers and specialists as well as supplies for all art, music,  curriculum-integrated drama, dance and poetry programs from kindergarten through 8th grade. The organization is celebrating 40 years of doing just that.

The Block Party has a new sponsor this year, Mill Valley-based BiOAID, which will be providing mask and filtration education and an opportunity to purchase their 99.8% rated filters that will upgrade any cloth mask to a mask with scientifically proven KN95-grade protection.

The event features free live music (donations accepted) featiring “Cat Fight,” with Mill Valley’s very own Teal Collins (Mother Truckers), Angeline Saris (Zepparella), Jeff Miller (New Monsoon), Jordan Feinstein and Daria Johnson plus more bands TBA and special guests.

Food and drink will be provided by D’Angelos, Gravity Tavern,The Depot Cafe & more.

The Fashion Show will present all the Great new Fall Styles from our “Best of Marin” boutiques. “Many of these shops have supported all of our efforts for many years to make Mill Valley the incredible place we all love,” Larry says. “Stop in to the participating shops and show them they’re appreciated!”
