He created this short video about it. “We have to listen to each other, if we are ever going to change,” Ryan says. ”I’d like to thank the 43 volunteers who helped make this Community Art piece.

The way I see it, high demand (lots of people) and low supply (not enough available housing) will always create fierce competition and drive up the cost of rent and mortgage payments. When adequate housing is guaranteed, the rental market will crumble. People will no longer sign a contract in which half or a third of their income goes to rent because they will no longer have the fear of being homeless.

Winterfest, the 94941’s annual holiday celebration produced by the Mill Valley Chamber and Organized Chaos Events, returned to the Downtown Plaza on December 8th, drawing another massive outpouring of residents, participants and friends. The event was once again an absolute blockbuster, with more than 1,000 locals and friends gathering on the plaza throughout the day and an evening of good cheer, including performances from the Happy Feet Tap Dancers, Rita & the Cosmos, Roco Dance & Fitness for thrilling performances of both hip-hop and contemporary dance, as well as the duo of Ellie McKee and Andrew McKee, who performed a broad array of both holiday tunes and classics through a bulk of the afternoon. We invited Santa on stage following his arrival in a beautiful convertible, and then he dashed off to his throne to greet the children. The beautiful Elecrtic Train kept kiddos and their families busy and happy throughout the day.

Sweetwater Music Hall Rolls Into the Holidays With a Quintet of Dynamite Holiday Shows!

The Sweetwater Music Hall – Mill Valley’s venerable live music institution and one of the most exciting live music venues in Bay Area history – has, as always, lined up a monster lineup of holiday shows as we head into the final weeks of 2024.
First up is Jason Crosby & Friends’ Tribute to Vince Guaraldi’s ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas, set for Dec. 15th, with shows at both 1pm and 7pm. Four days later, the legendary Christmas Jug Band storms into the Sweetwater on Dec. 19th for an 8pm show. And on the next day, Maria Muldaur and Her Jazzabelle Quintet on Dec. 20th. The 85’s wrap up the holiday season with The 85’s, but not before Hot Buttered Rum featuring Jessica Malone and Hattie Craven.

‘Unprecedented’ Housing Project at Seminary in Strawberry Moves Forward Amid Neighbor Pushback

Famed architect Mark Cavagnero, who designed the project, did not return calls seeking comment, but he told the Chronicle in 2019 that the fight has “been a big, big, big taste of NIMBYism the likes of which I’ve never experienced.” “There is no property anywhere near this size anywhere in southern Marin, if not all of Marin, that would be available and zoned for housing,” Cavagnero said at the time. “This is important not only for the housing we can build — workforce housing, affordable housing, senior housing — but also on an exemplary basis.”
