“The Local Trade exists to teach the people who will build our future,” he says. Together with a team of instructors, mentors, and advocates who share the passion for bringing tradecraft to the next generation, we are excited to offer woodworking classes to the community. Part of what Local Trade is about local trade is that so many of us come from a place knowledge jobs, but maybe not enough of creating something tangible with our hands,” Sanchez says. “I come to this with open eyes in that I am kind of new to this space of woodworking or skilled trades,” he adds. “We’re always learning and I’m on that path right now with others through the help of experts craftsmen and women.”

Bucky Dog has always been more than a business. From the start, Paige made it a priority to give back to the community that helped her grow. This year, in honor of its 10-year anniversary, Bucky Dog proudly announced it has donated over $10,000 to Kiddo!, the nonprofit that supports arts and enrichment programs in Mill Valley schools. “I’ve raised my daughter and son here. I’ve walked hundreds of dogs here. This community means everything to me,” Paige says. “Supporting Kiddo! is just one small way we can say thank you.”

“The work that we do is absolutely amazing, but the extensiveness of the work and the pressure of the work, it never goes away,” Elton said. “I can’t remember the last time I had an actual vacation. We’re always working. So, as rewarding as it can be, I’d like to relieve the pressure a little bit.” Elton’s said her new role will be “curatorial.”

Her sneakers show the miles, but they held up long enough to carry Audrey MacLean to her first Dipsea victory on Sunday morning. With bloody knees and aching feet, MacLean removed her shoes and socks at the aid station after crossing the finish line, but made sure not to lose track of them. “They’re the same shoes I wore in my junior year in high school,” the Redwood High grad said, recalling the 2021 season when she placed 16th at the CIF State Cross Country Division II Championship. On Sunday, Tiburon’s MacLean, 19, crossed the finish line at Stinson Beach to win the 114th Dipsea and made history in the process. She became the first female runner between the ages of 10 and 33 to win the Dipsea — famous for its handicapping system, which has produced a mix of younger and older winners.
