Desta Gallery, Emebet Korn’s renowned art gallery that she relocated to 100 Throckmorton Ave. in Mill Valley in 2020, is hosting an artist reception for “A Sense of Knowing,” an exhibition of work by Stephanie Weber, whose work has exhibited in galleries nationally, including solo shows at San Francisco Fine Arts Museum and the Oakland Museum of California.
Weber’s work will be on display through Sept. 18, and the artist reception is set for this Saturday, August 14, 4-6pm.
“Stephanie Weber’s paintings pulsate,” says Scott Shields, associate director and chief curator at the Crocker Art Museum. “Colors reverberate against one another yet coalesce in a brilliant chromatic whole. Composed of horizontal or vertical stripes and broader fields of color, the apparent simplicity of Weber’s current work is deceptive. Her surfaces are worked intensely and are rich in variety. Soft-edged fields of color float atmospherically.”
