Beyond the highly-anticipated 2024 music lineup that features headliners Fleet Foxes (Saturday) and Greensky Bluegrass (Sunday), and among other acts like Thee Sacred Souls, Margo Price, Fruit Bats, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, and Rebirth Brass Band, Mill Valley Music Festival will again host a massive outdoor vendor village featuring many of the NorCal regionās best artisans, creatives, and designers as well as important community organizations and nonprofits.

The Sweetwater Side Stage, powered by the legendary Sweetwater Music Hall ā serves up six incredible bands across two days at the southern end of Friends Field. Those bands will perform while our ace sound crew turns over the main stage between bands.

The organizers of the parade have teamed up with the Sweetwater Music Hall to showcase some of the iconic photos from parades of yesteryear, a great opportunity for patrons to check out past parade photos and much more. The display will be showcased on Tuesday, April 2nd in the Sweetwater’s outdoor patio. In addition to photos, it will also include posters, pictures and videos.

As always, the weekend extends well beyond the massive parade, including theĀ return of the Mill Valley Volunteer Firefightersā Associationās Pancake Breakfast from 7-11am, the Mill Valley Historical Society’s annual āWalk Into Historyā event, the 4-day KIDDO! Carnival and the after Parade party. The Kiddo! Memorial Day Celebration is from 12-5:15pm on Friends Field with free admission.

At their special meeting on Feb. 27th, the board of trustees voted to eliminate Friends Field as an option and to proceed with further examination of the current site for potential construction of the Middle School. āIf we need to concede what I feel is the better site, then we will need revenue from this site to make up for the additional expenses,ā Trustee Michele Crncich Hodge said. Weāre going to need to have that site become a resource for our district children and provide and ongoing revenues as we navigate a new expense plan. We need to immediately (negotiate) a monthly agreement with the city.”

District officials see the field option as an educational and environmental benefit because it would mean students wouldnāt have to attend classes in temporary portable buildings for two years while the new school is built. Others have pointed to the possibility that not moving students into temporary classrooms, it will just be much less disruptive. District officials indicated the cost savings could be somewhere between $6 million to $8 million in savings.
