Mill Valley Music Fest Looks to Do Right By Its Neighbors, Nonprofits and More
In a nod to the ever-growing sense of community support, the Chamber is donating a portion of proceeds to a number of local institutions including Kiddo!, which raises funds for arts education and more within the Mill Valley School District. The 2022 festival also supports the Sweetwater Music Hall’s nonprofit music education program and the City of Mill Valley’s Public Art Program, as well as other year-round initiatives spearheaded by the Mill Valley Chamber.

In Marin, the county has committed to spending its first $25 million in American Rescue Plan Act money in six areas: $6.7 million on Project Homekey and homelessness services; $5 million on racial equity; $5 million to address climate change; $4 million on fire facilities; $2.3 million on COVID-19 economic impacts; and $2 million on public health and mental health services.

The campaign, according to the Marin Independent Journal, “is being led by baristas who are in high school. The workers want increased starting wages for baristas, extra pay when the store is short staffed, credit and debit card tips and a voice in whether to allow mobile orders during a rush or short staffing.

Well, that was uneventful. The City of Mill Valley’s scheduled June 7th City Council election was canceled last week due to a lack of candidates for the three open positions on the five-member council. City officials estimated that scrapping the vote will save the city $45,000 in election expenses.

The students will walk from the San Anselmo Hub to Albert Park.
