Westminster Events invites you to an inspiring community gathering, “Stronger Together: Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” where we’ll explore how strong neighborhood connections can make Marin a safer, more engaged, and resilient place to live. This free event brings together local experts who are leading efforts in community advocacy, emergency preparedness, and neighborly connection. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, this discussion will provide valuable insights on how we can all contribute to building a stronger Mill Valley and Marin. The event is set for Sunday, March 2, 3-5pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 240 Tiburon Blvd., Tiburon. Cost: Free.

“This is not a money-making project, this is a money-spending project, Goldman said to the City Council with a laugh earlier this week. “The goal was just to get as many people to witness the video and understand what an incredible place Mill Valley is. I just want to share it with as many people as possible. Mill Valley is a great model, in my opinion, for what an ideal town would be.”

In the wake of recent wildfires, homeowners and builders in the Bay Area and across California are rethinking the ways to better protect their homes. Jimmy Singer’s family has lived on the heavily wooded hillsides of Mill Valley for decades. Homes are surrounded by towering redwoods and other vegetation that can quickly become tinder for a destructive wildfire. “Living in the hills in California, we’ve thought about fires forever,” said Singer. Singer does what he can to harden his home and make it more fire-resistant, including working with neighbors to help maintain defensible space. “It kind of brings a community aspect to know that if I do all this work on my property, somebody sharing the fence line is also doing that work too,” said Singer.

The voter-approved formation of the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority has advanced long-needed work to create and maintain so-called “fuel breaks” in hopes of giving fire crews a fighting chance to save neighborhoods. Crews have been working to create large fuel breaks in Ross Valley and Novato. Reducing vegetation along evacuation routes has been another priority.

The Bay Area isn’t a feature film superpower, but it pulls its weight in awards season, according to SFGate. The region also scored a well-deserved nomination for “Inside Out 2. The Bob Dylan biopic scored eight Oscar nominations, including a best picture nod and an actor nomination for Timothée Chalamet’s portrayal of the icon. Barbaro plays the legendary folk musician Joan Baez, who becomes romantically entangled with Dylan as they tour together.
