Mill Valley Celebrates 125 – Save the Date for the 125th Anniversary Celebration!!
Our intent for the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Incorporation of the City of Mill Valley is to bring our community together for a common awareness and commitment to this special town and surrounding community. As part of that effort, the Mill Valley 125th Anniversary Committee is sponsoring a series of articles by noted local historian and author Joyce Kleiner. These articles are intended to foster understanding, and pride, in Mill Valley’s history, and will focus on some of the people and events that shaped Mill Valley’s spirit of stewardship, volunteerism, and community involvement. Our efforts will culminate in a wide range events on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025, including an historically-themed parade, live music, an ice cream social, screenings of historical videos, and tours of the Old Mill.
Fox KTVU: Outcry as Tamalpais Union High School District Rejects a Petition and Pleas That Sought to Maintain Services for Black Students at the School at Tam High
Some parents thought it would be deeply harmful to roll back this progress and that their removal would not only send a demoralizing message to Black students and families—it would also contradict the district’s stated commitments to equity and inclusion. At a time when many students are still reeling from the trauma of those incidents, continued investment in their success and well-being is not optional—it is a moral and educational imperative.
Marin Theatre’s Next Play Is a Workplace Comedy: “It’s brilliant, Funny and Engaging, and the Comedy and the Terror Both Come from an Unlikely and Provocative source — ‘Workplace Culture’
Director Becca Wolff discovered the script through actor friend Rosie Hallett. “It’s brilliant, funny and engaging,” Wolff said. “I love dark comedy, and I love suspense, and this play has both. Plus, the comedy and the terror both come from an unlikely and provocative source — ‘workplace culture,’ including identity-based violence. … The nightmare scenario Sofia finds herself in is the experience of many people who find themselves victims of workplace hostility and harassment.”
MarinIJ: After Much Angst, Marin County Planning Commission Has Signed off on a Five-Story, 32-Apartment Building in Tam Valley
The Tamalpais Valley project also has attracted criticism because of its location in an area that has been classified as a flood zone by the Federal Emergency Management Agency; the scant number of parking spaces being supplied; and its height. Several planning commissioners expressed concerns about these and other issues during a hearing on Thursday. County planning staff the county is powerless to mandate any changes that aren’t based on strict, objective design standards and gross threats to public health. “Understand that we cannot require any parking for this project,” Marin County Planning Manager Jeremy Tejirian said.

Open Kimono: As the Mill Valley Music Fest Heads Toward the Four-Year Mark, It’s a Great Reminder of Why We Created It – It’s Not Just a Big Party, It Matters to Us Deeply, and It Supports ALL of Our Amazing Community, and Beyond!
More than anything, The Mill Valley Music Festival is about continuing to be better neighbors to those within and around our community. Whether it’s our years-long support for the We Are One Marin Campaign highlighting BIPOC-owned businesses or our longstanding coverage of inequity in our town, from historic to much more recent and shining a light on discrimination among us, we’re committed to making our town more equitable. That’s not a heavy ask – it’s just connecting the dots toward opportunity.
We’ll continue to strive for ways to use the power of this lil’ music festival to bring both sonic joy and more opportunity to our friends and neighbors
