At the other end of that Throckmorton Ave. block, there’s also no doubt that another relative newcomer, blockbuster hangout haven for a slightly different clientele is Angela’s Organic Ice Cream, the latest edition in a long line of fantastic ice cream shops in the 94941 (shout out to Baskin Robbins’ incredibly long run ‘til it closed in 2011.) In each case, the lines out the door say it all. Angela’s Organic Ice Cream was originally founded in Petaluma as Lala’s Creamery. Angela Garat and her son, Ignacio, purchased the business and recipes in 2017, and it’s been full speed ahead ever since. There is MUCH more to come, as you’ll read here.

Poet and/the Bench Welcomes Artist & Poet Rachel Hebert’s Launch of The Book of Thanks – a Catalogue of Gratitudes – Nov. 23rd, 1-4pm

Bonnie Powers and Jeffrey Levin, owners of the multi-faceted Poet and/the Bench lifestyle store and jewelry atelier space at 11 Throckmorton Ave., continue to curate creativity. Their latest creative energy is curating “AUTHOR TALK & ORIGINAL ART SHOW: THE BOOK OF THANKS,” on November 23rd, 1-4pm. “Join us in community for the launch of The Book of Thanks – A Catalogue of Gratitudes by artist and poet Rachel Hébert, Powers and Levin say. Hebert is known for her ability to blend the visual and the written word into profound expressions of the human experience.

Mill Valley Music owner Gary Scheuenstuhl and his longtime Marinfidels bandmates are set to head north to Hopmonk Tavern Novato for a performance of their popular “The Beatles vs. the Rolling Stones” battle. The event is set for Wednesday, Nov. 27 at the Hopmonk Novato for a fantastic night of live music with Beatles vs. Stones! Friends of the Mill Valley Library Host Another Book Sale to Support the Treasure That Is MVPL – December 4th, 2:30-5:30pm & Again on Dec. 7th, 11am-4:30pm

The Mill Valley Public Library has long been a local treasure. It’s also, obviously, a home for thousands of books to be be borrowed. In additional to that massive catalogue, the Friends of the Mill Valley Library, one of the two major supporters of the library, host regular Friends of the Library In-Person Book Sales. The next one is December 4th, 2:30-5:30pm. and again on Dec. 7th, 11am-4:30pm. Entrance is in the Smart Garden ‘under’ the Library.

Marin Theatre in Mill Valley will be hosting five performances of the Transcendence Theatre Company annual Broadway Holiday production from Dec. 12-15th. This all-new production features festive musical favorites, hit tunes and other on-stage antics by Broadway performers from such hit shows as Frozen, Mrs. Doubtfire and Wicked.

City Expands on United Against Hate Week, Unveils Call for Artists to Share Designs on a Wrap of Two Utility Boxes at Camino Alto & Blithedale Ave. – Submit Your Vision of Mill Valley Stands United Against Hate

The utility box to be wrapped is the larger of the two on Camino Alto adjacent to Mixt Salads restaurant, 590 East Blithedale Avenue, the box on the right side of the cover page photo. Eligibility While all adults and youth are invited to apply for this program, priority will be given to artists who either live or work in the City of Mill Valley or greater Mill Valley area. Student artists are also encouraged to apply. Artists may enlist assistants or art instructors to help them complete the project. All entries must be an original design, and artwork of the entrant must be suitable for viewing by all ages.

Marin IJ: Tam Union Board Nears Vote on Locking Cellphone Pouches

Research has shown that students are more apt to get depressed and anxious and have poorer academic performance if they are allowed unfettered cellphone use, trustee Cynthia Roenisch said. “I personally feel we are committing educational malpractice if we do not restrict the phones,” Roenisch said at a recent board meeting. “I don’t need to see more data.”
