Blockbuster Music Weekend Ahead at Sweetwater: A Pair of Rebirth Brass Band Shows on Nov. 2nd, Then the Debut of the Golden Gate Blues Society Open Blues Jam on Nov. 3rd, 1 to 3pm, Free, All Ages
For almost 4 decades, the Grammy winning Rebirth Brass Band has been “stunning” fans with a fiery live show and a rich musical catalog. Their trademark sound pays homage to the New Orleans brass band tradition while weaving a tapestry that combines elements of jazz, funk, soul, R&B and the sounds from the streets they grew up on. Strongly influenced by the likes of Hendrix, Clapton, Alvin Lee, Leslie West, Sly Stone and Freddie Stone, Young has played and recorded with a long list of people including; The Natural Four, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Richard “Dimples” Fields, John Lee Hooker, Maria Muldaur, Jimmy McCracklin, Craig Horton, Snooky Flowers, Cool Papa, Archie Lee Hooker, Zakiya Hooker, and Alabama Mike.

For Cindy Kamm, “painting is a means to express my passion for the color, design and the magic of the natural world that surrounds us.” “My intention is to use the canvas as a window to stimulate the imagination of the viewer by creating real and imagined landscapes. Much of my work is based on biological principals and images, with an eye towards connectivity and ecology. My years of observation as a naturalist and teacher of biology has helped me see and express these connections.

Now comes word that Abby Hill will be showcasing Suki Hill’s rock ‘n’ roll photography of the late 60’s starting Tuesday, Nov. 5th from 5:30-7:30pm (which is also Election Day) at the venerable Throckmorton Theatre. “Come unwind with a chill walk through Mill Valley for the first Tuesday Artwalk, and swing by the Throckmorton Theatre,” says Abigail. “Suki’s photography has not been shown in 10 years and I am thrilled that The Throckmorton and Lucy Mercer has asked to host. Please come down and check out your town and all the beautiful artists and their artwork.

Practice San Francisco is celebrating 10 years of Mighty Minds mindfulness and emotion regulation skills groups for kids! Groups for 3rd to 5th graders start the week of November 4 in Practice’s Mill Valley location, just off Miller Avenue in Sycamore Park. Since Dr. Nina Kaiser created the Mighty Minds program for kids in 2014, hundreds of Bay Area kids have learned skills that help them manage stress and big emotions in Mighty Minds small group classes.

Marin IJ: San Rafael Planners Release Final Mall Redevelopment EIR
Like the draft report, the final EIR, or FEIR, examines three other project alternatives, including a “no-project” option. In conclusion, the report says the “reduced residential alternative” — which proposes 63 fewer homes than what developers are seeking — would be the “environmentally superior alternative.” The option would “slightly reduce” the effects on air quality, emissions, energy, noise and vehicle trip generation, the report says. However, the report maintains that a list of required construction and mitigation measures would need to be followed to minimize disruptions. The report says the reduced residential alternative would meet the stated project objectives just with 63 fewer homes.
