Our Chamber members, primarily businesses, nonprofits and individuals, know who we are and what we stand for. But we haven’t always articulated that as well as we could to the broader community that doesn’t engage with our newsletters, blogs and social channels. MVMF is about continuing to be better neighbors to those within and around our community.

We’re firmly in the camp of there being no such thing as too much live music in Mill Valley. To that end, while we wake up every day to make the 2025 Mill Valley Music Fest the best version of itself, we’re also focused on getting you excited for a series of pop-up shows around town. Mill Valley Celebrates 125 – Save the Date for the 125th Anniversary Celebration!!

Our intent for the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Incorporation of the City of Mill Valley is to bring our community together for a common awareness and commitment to this special town and surrounding community. As part of that effort, the Mill Valley 125th Anniversary Committee is sponsoring a series of articles by noted local historian and author Joyce Kleiner. These articles are intended to foster understanding, and pride, in Mill Valley’s history, and will focus on some of the people and events that shaped Mill Valley’s spirit of stewardship, volunteerism, and community involvement. Our efforts will culminate in a wide range events on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025, including an historically-themed parade, live music, an ice cream social, screenings of historical videos, and tours of the Old Mill.

“More than anything, it’s the sounds that emanate from this thrilling group of musicians who ultimately make the Mill Valley Music Festival what it is,” says Jim Welte, Executive Director of the Mill Valley Chamber. “We hope attendees will recognize some favorites on this bill. But we really want you to to revel in the wonders of sonic discovery, and pass those earworms onto friends near and far. There’s something for everyone, and your horizons are about to expand exponentially.”

The event features fun activities for all ages and green exhibits about climate action, in a beautiful outdoor setting. Visitors will learn about living sustainably, using clean energy and transportation, greening up your home and garden, eating healthy food, protecting nature, and building resilient communities.

Marin IJ: Marin City Bus Shelter Art Project Honors Community’s Black Pioneers

“Her granddaughter and my brother are married,” she said. “So the legacy doesn’t stop — because we are a close community. Even though a lot of first-generation people who came here are gone, their legacy continues.” The bus shelter art project is part of an ongoing effort to tell the enclave’s Black history led by Felecia Gaston, a local historian, educator and nonprofit executive who has partnered with the county’s schools and libraries to teach this California story. “There were maybe 20,000 Black people who worked in the shipyard from 1942 to 1945,” said Gaston. “We selected a few because we actually have their oral histories.”

Marin IJ: Hundreds Attend Fairfax Vigil for Teens in Fatal Crash – There Are a Number of Go Fund Me to Support Individual Families

The Tamalpais Union High School District will provide counseling for students “for as long as we need to,” said Tara Taupier, the district’s superintendent. “Communities don’t recover from these kinds of things quickly,” Taupier said. “I know all we can do is love each other when a tragedy like this happens.” The vigil on Saturday included a six-minute silent meditation — a minute for each teen — led by the Rev. Floyd Thompkins of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marin City.

These awards are no joke; they’re the most significant honor in high school film, and you earned them through talent, hard work, and collaboration. Whether a student’s name is on one of the winning projects or you contributed behind the scenes, everyone in AIM helped make this happen. That makes AIM so special—how you all come together to create something bigger than yourselves.

Walk for Moms: Bring Awareness to Maternal Mental Health – Sunday, May 18th, 3pm-5pm, Lagoon Park @ Civic Center

The Postpartum Support Center (PPSC) invites the Marin community to the 5th Annual Walk for Moms on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Lagoon Park (Civic Center), 160 Armory Dr., San Rafael. Held during Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month, this free, family-friendly event brings together hundreds of families, advocates, and local organizations to raise awareness of perinatal mental health, fund vital support services, and celebrate the strength and resilience of Marin’s mothers and families. Participants will enjoy a festive afternoon walking around the Civic Center lagoon, followed by live music, family activities, raffles, and community resources—all in support of a cause that touches families across the region.

This year, we’re flipping the switch with a “Glow in the Dark” twist!
