As elected officials in Southern Marin, we strongly support the goals of the Marin-Sonoma Coordinated Transit Service plan. Consolidating routes, reducing redundancy along the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit corridor, reinvesting those savings in Southern Marin transit, and creating a more efficient regional system are all smart, forward-thinking objectives. However, good intentions do not always yield good outcomes, and, as currently proposed, it appears the changes to bus routes 17 and 71 will leave Southern Marin communities worse off, not better.

Mill Valley Pasta Co. worked hand in hand with Giacomo Reni San Francisco’s Pastabiz, a company based in the Mission which specializes in pasta production tools and equipment, to finalize the design. The custom brass and bronze die was then fabricated by one of the few remaining die makers in Italy. Reni and Mill Valley Pasta Co. had previously worked together to create a custom die to make a Dachshund-dog-shaped pasta that Mill Valley Pasta Co. calls “Cagnatini.” The Ponte d’Oro pasta is available at both of Mill Valley Pasta Co.’s retail stores in Mill Valley and their Factory Store in San Rafael, as well as at all farmers market stops (6 weekly), and on their website (www.millvalleypasta.com).

On October 4, visiting Topanga Canyon-based fine artist Danielle Hutchens will be in person for her Between Soil and Sky exhibition reception. Danielle has adopted using earth-friendly practices in her art. Her paintings primarily feature natural pigments she harvests and develops, a beautifully archival and non-toxic medium. Her new collection was created after the Los Angeles fires when “small things– tender shoots, shy buds– started to unfurl. Life, working underground in the quiet dark, was beginning again and in a soft, yet vibrant way.”

On Monday, September 1, 2025, the City of Mill Valley will hold a parade to celebrate its 125th anniversary. The parade will commence at Mill Valley Middle School and finalize in Lytton Square, downtown Mill Valley. There will be rolling road closures and detours before and during the duration of the parade. Following the parade, Miller Avenue will remain closed between Throckmorton and Sunnyside, to allow room for all to attend the festivities in Depot Plaza. We encourage those who have scheduled obligations to plan ahead and leave early to reach your destination safely. If you work or live along northbound Miller Avenue, between Camino Alto and downtown, there will be delays getting in or out of your home or business between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm.
