Bake Sum is popping up at Mamahuhu! From 9 A.M. until 1 P.M. (or until we sell out!) on Saturday, April 5th, stop by Mamahuhu to grab unique pastries (like a Black Sesame Snickerdoodle, Green Onion Croissant, the croissant/musubi mashup Croissubi, Coconut Ube Cookies, and more!) from Oakland based bakery Bake Sum as well as all-new iced teas, boba, and milk teas from Mamahuhu.

A travel article of what to do in 36 hours in San Francisco, the New York Times wrote that Brandon Jew’s “Chinese-American fast-casual restaurant Mamahuhu is worth a visit for its soft-serve sundaes alone.” Co-founder Ben Moore explains the concept of Mamahuhu as chef Brandon Jew “breathing new life into Chinese-Americans classics we grew up by focusing on creative culinary twists and proud ingredient stories that so many diners value today.” The name “mamahuhu” stems from a Chinese idiom that means “horse horse tiger tiger,” or boiled down to “so-so,” or “just okay” or even “careless,” Moore relates, proving that the restaurant doesn’t take itself too seriously since it’s clearly much better than okay.

Customers who dine in, order takeout or even stop by to get to know Mamahuhu can enjoy the flavors and paper coloring at Mamahuhu’s kids’ table and more.

Mamahuhu hosts an event – free and open to all – this Sunday, Jan. 22 from 11am-1pm to celebrate the start of the Lunar New Year. Local floral artist Tyson Lee is making a LNY-themed arrangement.
