Thanksgiving is a time of sharing with families and friends, get togethers, and especially for a bountiful, warm meal. It is a time to reflect and to give thanks for our families, our health, our homes and our jobs. However, it is still easy to take what we have for granted. There are families who are impacted by various financial circumstances and they can use our support. This is a time to show our gratitude for the many things we have in our lives and also show what we can do for others.
The Performing Stars nonprofit organization in Marin City, founded by the force of nature that is Felecia Gaston and has lifted up more than 3,000 children and introduced them to the arts, is seeking donations to make this Thanksgiving Food Drive a success. A $50 donation will feed a family of four, though the organization seeks donations of any amount.
Here are the items being included in each of the donated food baskets, prepared according to family size: turkey • disposable turkey roasting pan • roll of aluminum foil • boxes of stuffing mix • cans or packets of brown gravy • cans of chicken broth • Potatoes, beans or rice • onions, celery, carrots • cans of green beans • cans of corn • cans of cranberry sauce • boxes of jiffy cornbread mix • dinner rolls •butter • seasonings • dessert • fruit • sparkling apple cider.
