Wreckless Strangers Kick off 2025 with a High-Energy Dinner Show at West Marin’s Rancho Nicasio on Saturday, January 11
Wreckless Strangers is a collective of six friends and musicians carrying the torch for San Francisco’s grand rock ‘n’ roll tradition. Their unique stew of “Bay Area Gumbo” melds the contemporary blues stylings of Bonnie Raitt and Boz Scaggs; the songwriting sensibilities of Sons of Champlin and Fleetwood Mac; the swashbuckling Americana of the Lost Planet Airmen and Peter Rowan; and the funk of Sly Stone and Tower of Power with a dash of Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane for flavor and unpredictability.

The Sweetwater Music Hall – Mill Valley’s venerable live music institution and one of the most exciting live music venues in Bay Area history – has, as always, lined up a monster lineup of holiday shows as we head into the final weeks of 2024.
First up is Jason Crosby & Friends’ Tribute to Vince Guaraldi’s ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas, set for Dec. 15th, with shows at both 1pm and 7pm. Four days later, the legendary Christmas Jug Band storms into the Sweetwater on Dec. 19th for an 8pm show. And on the next day, Maria Muldaur and Her Jazzabelle Quintet on Dec. 20th. The 85’s wrap up the holiday season with The 85’s, but not before Hot Buttered Rum featuring Jessica Malone and Hattie Craven.
Music Heals International Tees Up Annual Benefit at Sweetwater Music Hall – Dec. 9th, Sweetwater Music Hall
A major loss has taken place since Music Heals International (MHI) announced its 2024 benefit concert, Women Rock, Music Heals!, with the death of Phil Lesh. MHI will honor the Grateful Dead bassist and his landmark second chapter by presenting a Tribute To Phil & Friends at the show on December 9 at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California. Phil Lesh & Friends alums David Nelson, Elliott Peck, Pete Sears, Barry Sless, Mookie Siegel, Jay Lane and Lebo (Dan Lebowitz) will all participate in the special performances. Surprise guests are also expected.

Few subjects have stirred the proverbial pot in town more than the June 2023 proposal for the membership-based Treehouse from Marine Layer founders Adam Lynch and Mike Natenshon, part of the team leasing and developing the former bank building at 60 Throckmorton Ave., all of whom live in Mill Valley.

For almost 4 decades, the Grammy winning Rebirth Brass Band has been “stunning” fans with a fiery live show and a rich musical catalog. Strongly influenced by the likes of Hendrix, Clapton, Alvin Lee, Leslie West, Sly Stone and Freddie Stone, Young has played and recorded with a long list of people including; The Natural Four, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Richard “Dimples” Fields, John Lee Hooker, Maria Muldaur, Jimmy McCracklin, Craig Horton, Snooky Flowers, Cool Papa, Archie Lee Hooker, Zakiya Hooker, and Alabama Mike.

Organizers of the event, as usual, are making sure that the event benefits the larger Bay Area community, and is doing so by continuing its “Hardly Strictly Out of the Park,” a series of nighttime live performances at a handful of venues around town, including a quartet of shows at our own venerable Sweetwater Music Hall.
