City of Mill Valley leaders continue to do the heavy lifting necessary to create an outdoor business use program that is right-sized for the 94941 community, respects the varying priorities of different business sectors and acknowledges the overwhelming popularity for all things al fresco. New City Manager Todd Cusimano seems determined to strike that balance.

Earlier this year, we created ā with generous design assistance from Poet and/the Bench and the support of the City of Mill Valley ā an array of banners, both on Miller Ave. and on the Depot Plaza, to urge residents and guests to support the people that serve as backbone of our community. Now we’re deploying some signs around town to do the same.

At an April 2022 hearing, City Manager Alan Piombo told the council that āin order to make zoning changes, the Planning Commission would need to review those changes prior to them coming back to council for adoption. But there would be no open or ongoing deliberation over what the program would look like.ā That hearing is set for Tuesday, August 23 at 6:30pm.
