Earlier this year, we created ā with generous design assistance from Poet and/the Bench and the support of the City of Mill Valley ā an array of banners, both on Miller Ave. and on the Depot Plaza, to urge residents and guests to support the people that serve as backbone of our community. Now we’re deploying some signs around town to do the same.

While we ready the return of an in-person Winterfest, we’re bringing back last year’s quasi-virtual, hugely popularĀ Winterfest Holiday Hunt, a three-week, scavenger hunt-style contest at dozens of businesses throughout Mill Valley. Kids accompanied by a parent can travel around town, preferably by bike or on foot, to take photos of iridescent stars, as selfies in front of the stars they choose, in at least eight of the 40 participating businesses, including some amazing local restaurants and retail shops.

On a gorgeous Friday afternoon on Children’s Islands at the Marin Center in San Rafael, more than two dozen people were honored by the Bank of Marin for their “tireless efforts in support of our community” at the 2021 Spirit of Marin Awards, including Mill Valley City Manager Alan Piombo and the owners of the Mill Valley Market. For many, it was a day of open-air smiles and hugs in the midst of an unrelenting pandemic and the economic and social turbulence of the past 18 months.
