Longtime Local Artist Amanda Reeves’ Gorgeous Paintings ā ‘Fluid Geometries,’ Will Be On Display at the First Tuesday ArtWalk on Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 5:30-7:30 pm!
Reeves’ early fascination with natural systems, their networks, and the creatures who inhabit them, initially drew her to study marine biology, where she could revel in the fantastical creatures and unknown realms. The rules did not seem to apply to the morphology of life under water. The visuals of strange and brightly colored creatures swaying and moving in the swells and currents embedded itself and is reflected in these works. These biological systems, so diverse and unique to their surroundings, had such exquisite specificity and yet seemed so fantastical; untethered and floating within the space they inhabit, seemingly weightless – interconnected, related, and yet abstract and nonsensical.Ā

Features MartĆnezās signature tacos, burritos, caramelos, rice plates, housemade horchata and more.Ā Rick MartĆnez is a celebrated Mexican-American chef, cookbook author (āMi Cocina,ā āSalsa Daddyā), recipe developer, and regular contributor to The NY Times. His menu created in partnership with Local Kitchens draws from his cultural roots, culinary travels, and signature techniques. Inspired by the Sonoran region of Mexico, the menu pairs expertly seasoned meats with flame-charred flour tortillas, bright housemade salsas, and heritage ingredients like chiltepin chiles, sourced directly from Mexico.

Mill Valley also showcases thrilling live music at long-cherished festivals like the Homestead Valley Music, which returns to Homestead Meadow, as well as the Creekside Fridays at the Tam Valley Community Center, with Fog Burners on August 22nd and Marble Party on Sept. 5th! And don’t get us started on the venerable nonprofit Sweetwater Music Hall, which has top-notch live music just about every night of the week, as often does the Throckmorton Theatre. While the buskers and bands keep playin’ year-round, one of the most exciting live music events returns this month, on August 31st, with CONCERTS ON THE PLAZA! Concerts in the Plaza returns in 2025 on Sunday, August 31st from 11am to 8:30pm. This year’s concerts are a special Mill Valley 125th Anniversary Showcase as a part of the Labor Day Weekend-long celebration.

We will keep innovating and serving our members and community in every way we can. But for now, all these years later, we have decided to take a brief pause from producing the Mill Valley Music Fest in 2026. Weāll see you around town, and weāll be back!

A meatloaf recipe made for a veteran coming home from Vietnam. A casserole dish full of comfort on cold nights. These are just some of the recipes found within the pages of the new āMill Valley Community Cookbook,ā an eclectic collection of recipes and the sweet, funny and historic stories behind them by former and current Mill Valley residents. Created by the Mill Valley Public Library, with support from the Mill Valley Library Foundation and Friends of the Mill Valley Public Library, the cookbook launched earlier this month with a potluck featuring many of the cookbookās participants. A limited number of free copies are available at the library for people to come and take, and copies of the cookbook will be added to the libraryās collection for people to check out.

“10 years ago, I happened to find myself in The Image Flow in Mill Valley and saw a brochure about their first Cuba Photographic Workshop that was coming up and I immediately sign up! Thatās when I experienced for the first time āThe Allure of Cubaā.Ā Iāve been to Cuba three times and Viet Nam once and Southern India once on photographic workshops, but my real education started when I joined the Marin Photo Club nine years ago. Numerous club photo classes and competitions, field trips and photo show opportunities helped me get to where I am now.”

Tamalpie, which opened in 2011, is firmly grounded in Mill Valley at the foot of Mount Tamalpais with a list of pizzas named after hiking trails and old camps on the mountain, like Cascade, Railroad Grade and Bootjack.
