On the heels of the exhilarating return of the Sequoia Cinema last month, as well as the exciting announcement last week that the 2024 Mill Valley Film Festival will feature a Tribute to the remarkable contributions of esteemed BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Jude Law at the 47th Mill Valley Film Festival, the California Film Institute has unveiled the official visual design for the 2024 MVFF, created once again by the talented team at Marin County-based Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners In Sausalito.
Embodying the theme of “synergy,” the 2024 visual design captures this essence through dynamic visuals. The design features interwoven imagery, vibrant colors, and modern, fluid typography, all reflecting the interconnectedness of the communal viewing experience. This vibrant and captivating visual mirrors the diverse and dynamic nature of MVFF, renowned for its innovative programming, commitment to creative exploration, and dedication to showcasing exceptional cinematic works.
“We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with the talented team at BSSP for MVFF47. This year’s design is vibrant and captivating, embodying the theme of ‘synergy.’ It reflects the collective energy and shared emotional experience that makes our festival so special. We invite everyone to join us and immerse themselves in the magic of cinema,” said Mark Fishkin, Founder/Director of MVFF and Executive Director/Founder of CAFILM.
“We feel very fortunate to have a world-class Film Festival in our backyard. Our long relationship with MVFF has been as rewarding as watching the films they showcase. The identity work they continue to entrust us with developing highlights their confidence in our design expertise, and we are grateful for their ongoing partnership,” said John Butler, Co-Chairman and Founding Partner at BSSP.
In 2024 in addition to Firebrand, Law leads the Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Ron Howard’s Eden, and Justin Kurzel’s The Order, also produced by Riff Raff. He is currently in production on the Netflix series Black Rabbit, in which he stars opposite Jason Bateman, who also directs, and executive produces under Riff Raff.
As we head into the fall in a few months, there will likely be plenty more cinematic joy to celebrate.
The 46th Mill Valley Film Festival closed with a thrilling party on Fourth Street in downtown San Rafael. “A BIG thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s films, panels, conversations, and more,” organizer said in a statement. From our sponsors, donors, and members, to first-time attendees—we are so happy to have you as part of this Festival. We couldn’t do this without you!”
MVFF Streaming continues now through Sunday, Oct 22. Check out these feature-length films, or browse all titles, including short film collections here. Additional opportunities to see some of this year’s selections on the big screen are also happening at the Smith Rafael Film Center.
