Blessing of the Animals

Fido? Yup. Felines? Definitely. Larry the Lizard? Alright then. Gila Monster? Yeah, maybe hold off on that.

On Sunday, Oct. 3 at 11:30am, Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church hosts its annual Blessing of the Animals, an event in the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi, the saint of animals and the environment.

“All of God’s creatures have earned our blessing and praise,” says new Pastor Luke Ham. “This is one of the great traditions of Christianity. Bring your pets of all kinds (properly restrained or contained, of course) for a loving blessing.”

Regular worship services are held at 10:30am and all are welcome to join us. Sunday School and Nursery care available. Call 415-388-4456 or email office@mtumc.org for more info.

The church is also reviving its Alternative Worship series, “When We’re Afraid”: October 10th, 17th & 24th, Room 1, at 9am. “Join us as we reflect on fear, trust and God’s presence in this 3-week series based on stories from the Old Testament. Using Godly Play as our guide, Children, Youth and Families Minister Tricia Wiig leads this engaging series that is perfect for families with children and for people of all ages who are looking for a church service that’s outside the box. All are welcome. A light breakfast is provided. RSVPs HERE are much appreciated, but not required.
