Business Citizen of the Year
Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce

Elizabeth Suzuki has left a mark on Mill Valley through her professional accomplishments, civic leadership, and unwavering commitment to the community she’s called home since 1985. As co-founder and principal of Sutton Suzuki Architects, Elizabeth has combined thoughtful design, environmental stewardship, and a collaborative approach to help shape the character of Mill Valley and communities throughout Marin County.

Long before affordable housing became a widely recognized priority, Elizabeth and her team at Sutton Suzuki Architects championed innovative housing solutions, including accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and multi-unit housing projects designed to serve seniors, teachers, and local workers. Through her work, she has helped create opportunities for residents to remain connected to the communities they love while preserving the unique character of Marin.

Elizabeth’s impact extends far beyond architecture. Her record of service includes leadership roles with many of Mill Valley’s most influential community organizations. As board chair of Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Mill Valley, Mill Valley Little League, Tam High Boosters, Tam High Foundation, and Kiddo!, she brought strategic vision, collaboration, and a can-do spirit to every endeavor. She has been a tireless advocate for local businesses, encouraging residents to shop locally and strengthening the economic vitality that helps communities thrive.

Most recently, Elizabeth transformed the historic Outdoor Art Club’s kitchen, helping ensure this cherished landmark remains a gathering place for celebrations, community conversations, and nonprofit events for generations to come.

Elizabeth’s commitment to excellence has also earned recognition for Sutton Suzuki Architects. The firm received the Spirit of Marin Small Business of the Year award in 2002 and has regularly been recognized among Marin Magazine’s “Best of Marin,” including in 2026.

Elizabeth Suzuki is honored as Bank of Marin’s Spirit of Marin Business Citizen of the Year for her ability to bring people together, serving as a lifelong community builder and dedicating her talents, leadership, and energy to enhancing the quality of life in Marin County.
