Mill Valley’s Chris Lundy, 55, built a sizable lead and crossed the finish line with a clock time of 45 minutes, 43 seconds to win the 115th Dipsea Race on Sunday.
Lundy picked up her fourth career victory in the age-handicapped, 7.4-mile race from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach. Lundy broke through for her first win in 2017, went back-to-back in 2018 and grabbed another victory in 2024. Lundy’s four race victories tie her for second-place all time with Brian Pilcher and Shirley Matson — trailing only Sal Vasquez’s seven victories.
Lundy ran an actual time of 1:00.42, which combined with her 15 head-start minutes, was more than enough to get the victory. Lundy, who was third last year, crossed the finish line at Stinson Beach before anyone else in the field had hit the penultimate checkpoint at The Stile.
Eddie Owens, 32 of Mill Valley, placed second with a clock time of 47:30 after receiving one head start minute. Owens placed sixth in 2025. Fairfax’s Julia Maxwell Bailey, 30, took third with a clock time of 48:03 while running the race for the first time since 2024.
Tiburon’s Audrey MacLean, 20, took fourth in 48:31 after winning in 2025, Mill Valley’s Laura Hansen came fifth with a time of 48:48.
New Mexico’s Rickey Gates, 45, returning to the racer after a lengthy absence took sixth in 48:56. Alaska’s Anna Dalton, 36, was seventh in 49:03. Current Branson School track and cross country standout Farah Allen, 17, placed eighth in 19:10 with San Anselmo’s Heidi Reifenstein, 48, in ninth in 49:52.
The race for 10th place was heated with Petaluma’s Nolan Hosbein, 23, edging out both San Rafael’s Amy Cameron, 46, and Larkspur’s Clara Peterson, 42, by a single second.
