A New Chapter for Mill Valley LiveArts and 142 Throckmorton Theatre
Mill Valley LiveArts (MVLA) was founded by Lucy Mercer 24 years ago. It has operated as 142 Throckmorton Theatre and, under Lucy’s leadership, has produced a broad range of creative arts programming. These programs have continued to grow, bringing together artists, performers, students, and audiences throughout the Bay Area.
MVLA is now entering a new chapter. The organization has partnered with Throckmorton & Company, a new locally owned organization that will take on responsibility for producing the theatre’s programs and managing its operations. This partnership will enable MVLA to devote more time and resources to advancing its nonprofit mission and achieving its goals.
Throckmorton & Company will continue operating under the name 142 Throckmorton Theatre, with plans to maintain programs and support their continued development. Lucy Mercer will remain Artistic Director, overseeing programming and artistic direction for the theatre.
Meanwhile, MVLA's Board of Directors has been developing plans to strengthen the nonprofit's work in supporting artists, providing scholarships, expanding access to the arts, and creating new community arts initiatives. MVLA remains committed to its longstanding mission of enriching the community through the arts.
Together, the two organizations will continue to support the arts in Mill Valley, each with a distinct but complementary role.
