On October 23, The Pelican Inn Hosted the Night the Witches Were Invited in, an evening inspired by the folklore and curious history of the Pelican Inn.

The building has some interesting Witch Lore, including glass worked into the fireplace mortar and, believe it or not, an actual horses head buries beneath the fireplace, both traditional features intended to keep witches out!

The partnered with Practical Magic, a fun little shop in Fairfax specializing in handcrafted brooms, candles and crowns. They had a broom making class, a pop-up shop, and a magic shop.

More recently, The Pelican Inn, on Thursday, November 5th, they’ll celebrate Guy Fawkes Night, a beloved tradition, commemorating the beloved British tradition commemorating the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.

Festivities start at Dusk with out traditional Bon Fire, a bagpiper, live music by the Raven Hill Trio, and prizes for the top three effigies.

They’re adding a few new touches this year, too!

The Pelican Inn is having a blast bring these kinds of events and finding ways to celebrate its history and quirky character.
