About Carla Roth

Carla Roth lives and paints in Marin County. After growing up in a small Northern California college town, she attended UC Berkeley, where she earned a degree in Design, followed by a 30-year career in interior design.

In 2000, Carla signed up for a watercolor workshop and was instantly hooked. She went on to study water media at College of Marin and participate in workshops with nationally recognized artists. In 2005, she began studying oil painting, which continues to be her primary focus.

Carla works from her studio in Sausalito’s historic ICB Building, where the light and colors of the Bay provide daily inspiration. Her work focuses on everyday objects, structures and scenery, with much of her subject matter drawn from the Bay Area and Northern California, as well as her travels.

Carla has received numerous awards and has exhibited in gallery group and solo shows, Marin Open Studios, the Marin County Fair, ICB Winter Open Studios, Artists at Work and the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. Her work has also been selected for juried exhibitions at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, Monterey Museum of Art, Sebastopol Center for the Arts and Sausalito Center for the Arts. She was selected for the inaugural de Young Open.
