Creekside Golden Hour
| We are looking forward to gathering at the Cabin tomorrow for our last Creekside Friday of the season. Marble Party will be playing which feels right since it has become a tradition to have them close things out. Join us for a lovely evening under the redwoods. Oktoberfest is coming up in just a few weeks. Tickets are on sale now – grab yours and get a discount when you buy them before the big day! We need some help to make this wonderful fall event happen – many hands make light work and this is one of our biggest events of the year. If you would like to volunteer, see more below and reach out. Surfrider Marin hosted a clean up of Bothin Marsh last weekend and volunteers collected over 45lbs of trash! Thank you all who joined in the clean up and thank you to Surfrider Marin for coming to our neck of the watershed to help keep it clean and clear as rains come and the weather shifts. Lots of updates below including reminders about parking at the Community Center, upcoming meetings, opportunities to serve the community and more. Check it all out and stay up to date. | Upcoming Meetings TCSD Board Meeting: September 9 at 7pmTam Valley Community Center The agenda for the Wednesday, September 9th Board meeting will be available Friday evening prior to the meeting. Click here to view the agenda and staff reports when they are posted. Parks and Recreation Commission The next PARC meeting is Wednesday, September 16th at 3:00pm in the Tam Valley Community Center. The agenda will be available on September 11th on the TCSD website site. Modular Construction to Begin on Shoreline Highway Apartments Construction activity is progressing at the 32-unit affordable housing development at 156 Shoreline Highway in unincorporated Mill Valley, with installation of prefabricated modular units in progress. Crews are using a crane to place modular sections that will form the five-story apartment building. Modular installation is expected to take up to two weeks, depending on weather, transportation and other logistics. During installation, neighbors and travelers should expect: Daytime construction noise as modular units are lifted and secured into place.Temporary parking restrictions along the affected portion of Shoreline Highway from 6 AM to 7 PM. Overnight parking will remain available. Travel lane modifications and brief traffic holds to allow trucks to safely enter and exit the site. Trucks are expected to arrive or depart approximately every 30 to 60 minutes. Most traffic holds are expected to last about 60 to 90 seconds, although some may take longer. Traffic control measures are planned near the northbound Highway 101 exit and Shoreline Highway to accommodate truck turns as needed. Large trucks and equipment, including up to four large transport trucks carrying modular building sections staged along Shoreline Highway at a time. No weekend work is anticipated. The installation schedule remains subject to change. Shoreline Highway is a state highway. Caltrans has been notified of the planned construction activity, and the developer has Caltrans permits associated with the work. Click here for more information and to learn about the project. |
| Transmission Tower Update PG&E expects to substantially complete Phase I of its transmission tower replacement project at the Community Center this week. PG&E will return September 11–16 to finish the remaining work, backfill the parking lot, clean up the site, and demobilize. The Community Center parking lot will remain closed to public parking during active construction. The front parking lot will be open when the contractor is not on site. Pedestrian access to the Community Center will remain available throughout the project. The permanent replacement transmission pole is tentatively scheduled to be installed after Thanksgiving.Help Needed with Oktoberfest Can’t believe it’s already that time but Oktoberfest is right around the corner and we are planning for another great year. It takes many hands to pull off this huge event! But it’s a super fun one! We have volunteer shifts in the food area, bar, ticket booths and more! Free admission for all volunteers – work your shift, then enjoy the event or come early and then volunteer later. We will have food and refreshments to keep you going strong.  Mill Valley Pump TrackThe Mill Valley Pump Track Alliance will be at Creekside Unplugged on September 4th to continue community engagement and gather input from Tam Valley families about the proposed Southern Marin pump track. Stop by their table to learn more about the bike park project, share your feedback, and let the kids explore a miniature pump track toy. | Creekside Unplugged at the Cabin5-7:30pm60 Tennessee Valley RoadJoin us tomorrow for a very special Creekside Unplugged. According to tradtion, Marble Party will be closing out the Creekside season. We will have a crafts station lead by a local Girl Scout troop. Come make a card for Tia! She isn’t quite sure if she is up for a big celebration but we are going to wish her a happy 90th birthday one way or another. Cards will be delivered to her if she can’t make it. You will also learn about Buckelew Programs, the organization that manages local 988 call centers serving Marin, Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino counties, and plays a vital role in connecting individuals to compassionate care and lifesaving resources in our community. This is a free event but it’s helpful to know who is attending, RSVP here. We will have refreshments and plenty of time to ask questions after the speaker presents. | Before beginning your next renovation project, learn from deconstruction and reuse experts about the environmental benefits of salvaging and reusing building materials. There are two Deconstruction Workshops happening this month with presentations from GreenLynx and the Reuse Alliance! The first one is September 9th at the BelTib Library from 6-7pm. Register here. Opportunities to Serve Your Community We currently have a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC). We are looking for a community member who would like to help shape the activities in Tam Valley as well as how the community utilizes our parks. The Commission meets once a month and then does a monthly report to the Board of Directors. Tam Valley Resident Needed for Marin County Commission on AgingAre you interested in helping make Marin County a great place to age?
