Six weeks after debuting the thrilling ‘Tours & Tales,’ a deep dive into the past, present and future of one of Mill Valley’s most spectacular artistic landmarks, the Throckmorton Theatre is ready to host its first in-house live performance in 15 months.

On Thursday, July 1 at 7pm, “The Gathering, A Musical Celebration of Reconnection,” features vocalist Deborah Winters, pianist Frank Martin, bassist Sascha Jacobsen and percussionist Ian Dogole for “an evening of creative, improvised music that is sure to resonate and elate,” says Throckmorton Founder Lucy Mercer.

“We’ll once again revel in the creation of uplifting and joyful music at the Throckmorton Theatre,” Mercer says. “After a seemingly interminable period of dormancy in live performance, we can look forward to embracing our interconnectedness through music and just being together. How sweet is that?”

The music is sure to be panoramic – from the Afro-centric music of Randy Weston to our interpretation of a Sting favorite to Tango to original compositions … and beyond,” she continued. “The program will be reflective of a truly collaborative vision for this event – everyone is the leader. If, like us, you’ve been just chomping at the proverbial bit to emerge from the pandemic-ridden darkness into the lightness of energized, adventurous music and to once again frolic with your fellow humans, you won’t want to miss this exceptional event.”

The show will have both in-theater and virtual viewing options.
