At the other end of that Throckmorton Ave. block, there’s also no doubt that another relative newcomer, blockbuster hangout haven for a slightly different clientele is Angela’s Organic Ice Cream, the latest edition in a long line of fantastic ice cream shops in the 94941 (shout out to Baskin Robbins’ incredibly long run ‘til it closed in 2011.) In each case, the lines out the door say it all. Angela’s Organic Ice Cream was originally founded in Petaluma as Lala’s Creamery. Angela Garat and her son, Ignacio, purchased the business and recipes in 2017, and it’s been full speed ahead ever since. There is MUCH more to come, as you’ll read here.

Each agency has a table to share information and answer questions, with holiday treats available. The event is at the church, 240 Tiburon Blvd. in Tiburon. Now comes word that Abby Hill will be showcasing Suki Hill’s rock ‘n’ roll photography of the late 60’s starting Tuesday, Nov. 5th from 5:30-7:30pm (which is also Election Day) at the venerable Throckmorton Theatre. “Come unwind with a chill walk through Mill Valley for the first Tuesday Artwalk, and swing by the Throckmorton Theatre,” says Abigail. “Suki’s photography has not been shown in 10 years and I am thrilled that The Throckmorton and Lucy Mercer has asked to host. Please come down and check out your town and all the beautiful artists and their artwork.

According to the Marin IJ, environmental issues have put plans for a new $130 million Mill Valley Middle School on hold, according to consultants for the school district. The delay is for more studies at the campus at 425 Sycamore Ave., which used to be a burn dump. The district’s plan is to demolish the school and rebuild it at the same site. Sandrine Hitchcock, a program manager for the construction consulting firm AECOM, discussed the project during a public forum on Thursday, saying the last step of the California Environmental Quality Act process is expected in July.

I have met a number of Marin residents facing homelessness. One works full-time while also caring for her developmentally disabled son. Another pays more in rent than her entire monthly income, watching her savings shrink monthly. These residents are in their 70s. They are scared, angry and feel betrayed by their community. They do not match the stereotypes of the homeless.
