Zero Breast Cancer has long been an essential Bay Area nonprofit. But as it nears its 19th Dipsea Hike for Zero Breast Cancer fundraising walk on Sept. 25 at 9am – with a virtual version set for Sept. 18-Oct. 9, it’s got a couple of extra reasons to celebrate in 2021.
First off, the San Rafael-based nonprofit organization that focuses on research, prevention and education, turns 25 this year, having been founded in 1996. Second, being able to return to an approximately 5.5-mile, in-person walk after going virtual-only in 2020 is a return to normalcy. The hike was created to honor Annie Fox, a former ZBC board member, Marin County employee, avid trail runner and breast cancer advocate who died of breast cancer at the age of 35.
Registration for the event is open now and closes Sunday, Sept. 19. For those who register by August 29, a Dipsea Hike t-shirt is included with registration.
