As we reported in late 2021, Grace Kraaijvanger made the gut-wrenching decision to close the female-fueled “co-working space and inspiration lab” that she opened at 38 Miller Ave. in downtown Mill Valley in 2016, and three years later at the Fort Mason Center for the Arts + Culture in San Francisco. Kraaijvanger wrote a final farewell to those respective physical spaces at the time.

But as she made clear in that initial note of sadness, the Hivery continues onward in offering its Incredibly popular Hivery Circle digital membership, a one-of-a-kind digital membership, and she’s been hosting pop-ups at various venues around town for those who want to continue learning and growing.

“Because spaces don’t make a community, people do,” Kraajvanger says.” And we are so much more than our spaces. We are a vibrant, dedicated, passionate community that is dedicated to kindness, massive impact, and growth.”

With that in mind, Kraajvanger is teaming up with the always-innovative Poet and/the Bench as The Hivery gets ready to welcome the season with events—both virtual AND in-person!

On June 21, The Hivery celebrates a Summer SOULstice Soiree at the Poet and the Bench space at 11 Throckmorton Ave. in downtown Mill Valley. RSVP for this twinkly, crafty, and summery event here.

The Summer Soiree will also feature amazing Hivery members, Rachel Hebert, an artist who will guide us through a creative project together, and Amanda Denny’s food, courtesy of her company Leaf and Sage Cuisine.

“Celebrate Summer SOULstice under the twinkling lights and cobblestone charm of Mill Valley’s famous El Paseo alleyway with The Hivery and Poet and/the Bench, Poet and/the Bench co-owner Bonnie Powers says.

“Hivery members and non-members will gather to celebrate the longest day of the year, sip, set intentions, participate in a community art project, and celebrate summer vibes,” Kraaijvanger adds.

Poet and/the Bench jeweler Jeffrey Levin will be creating lasting memories, helping attendees to get bonded with permanent bracelets.

Event tickets are $25 for Hivery members and $35 for non-members. After you register for the event, you can separately book your permanent jewelry. Even sweeter, buy 2 and you’ll get 1 at 20% off with code DOITTOGETHER
